Climate Action Map
2010-04-01
ClimateActionMap.org is a free online mapping and database tool that enables cities to share green initiatives and policies with other cities and the general public. Climate Action Map is also a valuable resource for learning about what other cities around the world are doing to address climate change.

Any city in the world can sign up for a free user account and begin uploading best practice initiatives. For each initiative, cities can provide a detailed description, contact information, images, documents, and video. The map includes advanced search functions that enable users to search for projects by specific project category, city size, year of completion, or keywords.

Additionally, cities can generate a local map. The local map helps visitors to the city website get an overview of, and information about local climate projects. For examples of how cities use the local map, visit Greensburg, Kansas or Bergen in Norway.

A mobile version for Android and Iphone will be available soon via Layar. (Current Beta version only available on Android phones and for the following cities: Phoenix, Greensburg, Savannah, and all Danish Cities)

It is easy and free for any city to join. Simply follow this link to register for a user account. (Note that only local government administrations or those explicitly acting on their behalf can register.) Your account is usually approved within 24 hours. If you have any questions regarding the map please contact . You can also follow Climate Action Map on Twitter to stay updated on new noteworthy projects and cities.
