The city of San Mateo is partnering with Rising Sun Energy Services, an East Bay nonprofit agency, to offer any city resident an assessment that includes replacing energy-wasting light bulbs and installing efficient flow shower heads and faucet aerators, among other free services.

Up to 200 homes in San Mateo will be eligible for a free energy assessment and retrofit this summer funded by federal stimulus dollars that will also provide a few jobs for local youth.
