Actions highlighted below will likely be part of any action plan - however they can be implemented immediately even while a plan is being developed.

• Municipal operations  – Action can be taken immediately on the infrastructure systems associated with municipal land and facilities such as energy efficiency measures, district energy systems, water efficiency initiatives, local wastewater treatment and reuse systems and others where appropriate. 
• Incentives – Incentives can be offered to support energy and water efficiency as well as waste reduction. Many communities offer rebates on more efficient plumbing fixtures such as low flow toilets. 
• Regulations – Creating flexibility for demonstration and catalyst projects and new technologies.  
• Education – Pursuing education opportunities for the community, developers and local government staff on sustainable infrastructure. Education on available state and federal incentives is also productive.
