San Francisco’s new one-year pilot program, approved in June 2008, is the largest municipal solar program in the United States. A fund of $3 million will provide rebates to home and business owners who install solar panels on their buildings. Individuals can receive up to $6,000, while businesses can qualify for up to $10,000. A $1.5 million fund was also created to fund PV installations at nonprofit-owned buildings and low-income housing.
