Through a public-private partnership, the City will plant more than a million new trees in the next five years

The City of Houston has set a goal of planting one million new trees in the next five years to help beautify the city and lower greenhouse gas emissions. The effort will replace many of the trees recently uprooted by Hurricane Ike. To reach the one million goal, Mayor Bill White and community leaders are encouraging corporations, small businesses, community groups and individuals to give the gift of trees during each holiday season.
