Alameda County, California
Alameda County has a goal of reducing waste sent to the landfill by 75% from 1990 levels.

Green Building In Alameda County is a program of StopWaste.Org in California. StopWaste.Org is a public agency formed in 1976 by a Joint Exercise of Powers Agreement among the County of Alameda, each of the fourteen cities within the county, and two sanitary districts that provide refuse and recycling collection services.

StopWaste.Org was formed to address the issue of reducing waste to the landfill, and supports numerous waste reduction efforts including the Green Building In Alameda County program. Green Building In Alameda County works with our 17 member agencies to help their staff and elected officials make informed decisions about green building in their communities. We provide technical assistance, design assistance, grants, presentations and trainings. We have also created model documents that are available for download from our website, www.buildgreennow.org or www.stopwaste.org.
